Listen to Morning radio? I got a couple questions for ya....

So, I've been at this morning show thing for a long time--starting in 1986, a long long time ago, at WBLM, of all places. (Capt. Ivy replaced me--and I don't think he's going anywhere soon!). I've been doing mornings at WMGX/Coast 93.1 since June 1995. Like any job, it has its' ebbs and flows, ups and downs, feasts and famines. So, my question is, what do you like in your morning show of choice? Games and contests? "Wacky" banter among the hosts? Interviews with celebrities and newsmakers?

All of the above?

Or none of the above--just "shut up and play the music"?

Radio is changing rapidly, like all forms of media are. The only way I'm going to know what morning show listeners like is to ask. So, I'm asking.

Will you help me?

Only a half-hour into the show and I've a headache.

Why? Eva's rattling bracelets. While she sits at her computer, typing and googling and whatevering, the bracelet around her left wrist constantly bangs on the counter. Constantly. It's like Chinese water torture without the benefit of hydration. Ugh.

It's only 3:30am, why am I already blogging?

The Coast Morning Show begins at am, so I usually get here at around 3:15-3:30am. I go to some morning show prep websites, print stuff out, generally try to catch up on what I may have missed during my 4 or 5 hours of sleep.
Evidently, I missed Jonathan Papelbon blowing the Sox game in Yankee Stadium last night by giving up 4 runs in the bottom of the 9th inning. This, after Dice-K threw batting practice to the Yankees in the first inning. Japan's National Treasure gave up 5 runs BEFORE HE GOT A SINGLE OUT. Somehow, the Six got back in it, behind some solid pitching by the "Tim Wright of the Boston Red Sox" Tim Wakefield. Up 9-7 in the ninth, here comes Paps. There go the Yankees.
You see all the stuff you can learn at 3:30 in the morning? Without having to actually watch the game!

Well hello there!

Hi! I'm Tim Wright, co-host of the Coast 93.1 Morning Show in Portland, Maine. I'm a devoted husband, doting father of two boys, and blogging virgin. Please be gentle with me!
